Mothers Day

We all agree that Mum's are special people right!  I love that we get to share and show our students that the females in our lives who care for and love us should be celebrated.  I love asking my kiddos why that person is special to them, they usually always answer with what that person does for them, here are some quotes from my kiddos,

Why is Mum so special?

"Because she makes my favourite dinner."

"She always reads me stories"

"My mum smells good and hugs me all the time"

"She can do cartwheels with sparklers in her hands and toes"

Ok, that last one was about me haha!  But seriously it is what makes me special.

So in honour of the wonderful women in our kiddos lives I have updated my Mothers Day craft pack, you can get yours here

Here are a couple of examples of the crafts that are included in the pack.  

Which Mum would not love a vase of flowers, you can personalise this with more flowers or special messages on the petals

I love this puffy heart decoration, you can easily spray this with some lavender or rose oil to make it smell pretty to hang in the cupboard to make Mum's clothes smell nice.

These are just a couple of examples of what is in the pack, there are also some writing activities as well as cards to make.  I hope your kiddos love making these for someone special in their lives even if they can't do cartwheels with sparklers!

Mothers Day around the corner.

Hi friends,

Let me start this post by saying how shocked I was this morning when I woke to the news of the Boston bombs.  Tragic and scary.....my heart goes out to the victims, their families and the people who live in the area, it must be so scary to have something like that happen in your neighbourhood.

I have been on holidays the last few days and have enjoyed my time doing nothing.....that's right nothing, well that is not strictly true, I have cleaned the house (twice) for a house inspection, yelled at my kids to keep their hands off the walls, yelled at the cat for shedding hair, yelled at the husband for leaving dishes around then lay down for a much needed rest, that yelling wore me out.

When I say nothing I mean school work.  I had this great plan to get all my planning done this week before next week when we head to Tassie for the last week of the holidays.  That plan has not happenend.....at all....*sigh*

What I have been doing, apart from cleaning is to revamp a Mothers Day activity for TpT.  It will be getting close to Mothers Day when we go back to school and I like to be ready for it you can check out my Mothers Day pack by clicking on the pic below.

I have made sure I have included templates for those kiddos that may not have Mum around or perhaps is cared for by someone other than Mum.  I have also included both US spelling (MOM) and UK/Aussie spelling (MUM)

I will be revamping my Fathers Day card and gift set as well, now that I have some more great ideas and I will also offer both of these packs as a bundle.

Telling the time and Easter activities

I just wanted to share a few pics of the happenings in my classroom in the last week or so.  I have had so much going on I feel like I am just catching my breath........in time to start planning for next term, oh they joy!

Well we have been looking at time as mentioned in my last How Pinteresting post, you can read about it here.

So we made these fabulous flip clocks that allow the students to have the 5 minute mark under the numbers. First we wrote the clock numbers on a small paper plate, this was the first challenge for some of them.

Then we made our minute and hour hand and labelled these, we also divided the clock into quarters and labelled o'clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to.

(Can you tell how well trained my kiddos are already not to look at the camera!!)

When we put our clocks together we were then able to use them to....

make our daily shedule that matched analogue time with digital time.  Match digital and analogue times and count the minutes in 5 minute intervals, and.......

pass the time with our friends!   Yes it was Crazy hair day on that day.

My kiddos loved this activity and I can really see the benefits from them making the flap clocks.  I randomly ask them through the day now what the time is and you can see them counting around in 5's and making sure they are checking where the hour hand is.

Before I go I wanted to let you know about the Easter activities I have in my TpT store, I have been so focussed on school that I forgot to tell you all about them.

Here is my Coin Toss Bunny Hop game.

Students toss a coin to either move to a higher or lower number and try to be the first to get to the other side,  because it uses chance the game is different each time they play it.  I have also included 3 different levels to cater for individual needs.
