Making sense of numbers!

Hi friends!  I went back to school this week after our two week Winter break which I happily spent in my pyjamas on the couch  :)  It was difficult but someone had to do it!  Seriously people it was cold, there was snow on the mountain.....it was cold.

Well while I was on the couch I whipped up a lovely freebie for you and finished off a file that had been sitting in my To Finish File.  Here they are just for you!

There are posters, number cards and number lines that can be printed and laminated for displaying in the classroom.  I have used the cards for a read the room activity which my kiddos love!

There are easy no prep printable as well which include some interactive flip the flaps and number puzzles that can be copied on to card for students to put back together as well as number puzzles that students can fill in the missing parts.  I have also fit in some partitioning, numbers before, after and between.  Oh not to forget odd and even numbers!  Whew, that is quit a list......but wait there's more!  A set of steak knives, heehee, I jest.  You get a bonus game called Balloon POP to 10.  My kids love playing this game and it can be used for counting forward, backward, addition, subtraction, count on and back 1 or 2.  The list is endless.  Just click on any of the pics above to get your copy.

Hi friends!

I feel as if I have neglected this little blog of late but I have been busy enjoying the holidays and catching up on some reading.  So I thought I would pop in with a bit of a catch up post, here is what I have been up to.

This is my very proud children with their Dad at the Anzac Day ceremony and march.  We were in a little town outside of Hobart, my husband's unit travels to some of the smaller towns that may not have military members.  It was a beautiful day weather wise and the ceremony was conducted wonderfully.  This was also the first time my Mother in law got to see her son march as we don't usually live near enough to family for them to attend, so it was a very special day for our family.

What else have I been doing?  Reading, reading, reading.  I save up all my reading for the holidays that way I won't get interrupted with life and school getting in the way of a good book.

I have also carved out some time for working on TpT and have gotten a companion pack to my Alphabet Robots  up and running, it is matching numbers to number names to 20 and is called Number Robots to 20. (such a creative title!)  I have also bundled them so you can get both at a discounted price.

I still have a week left before I head back to school and will be doing LOTS of things with the kids, swimming, bushwalking, shopping and a quick trip away.  Oh and then I might fit in some planning.....maybe

In the classroom and a new challenge!

Well, I jumped straight back into the classroom this week and it felt GREAT!  I have Year 2 again for two days of the week and the rest of the week I am undertaking a new role in the capacity of a support teacher.

I am really excited to be taking on this new role, I love being in the classroom but I also love delving into new ways to support our kiddos, particularly those kiddos who need that extra bit of help and this new role will see me visiting with kiddos of different year levels.

I have to say my feet are killing me after two days of standing up and moving around all day but I loved meeting my new class and just know we are going to have a great year together.  You know I was so busy getting to know my new little people I forgot to take photos!  Next week I promise.

To help my kiddos review some of their Year 1 learning I am working on something new over this weekend, here is a little peek

both of these packs will include activities that will help students review numbers in every form that they may encounter them.  Matching numbers, numerals and number names, making numbers using ten frames, partitioning numbers, odd and even, number sequence, before and after.....well there will probably be more than that but that is what I have so far :)  

Great news is, we have a long weekend here so I have plenty of time to finish it off!

Fish Feeding Frenzy Freebie

I just love alliteration, which has nothing to do with my freebie for you today!

I listed this yesterday, this game focusses on regrouping ten ones into one ten.  Kiddos will roll a dice and "feed" their fish the correct amount of MAB ones blocks.  When they reach ten or more they will regroup their blocks into one ten and the leftover ones get left in the fish bowl to create the next ten.  The kiddo that reaches 100 (or has the most) wins the game.

Crazy Koalas helping out!

I was so inspired by Mel @ From the Pond raising money for the injured wildlife, I thought I would jump in to give her a hand.  I have used Mel's adorable Koala clipart to create this fun doubling game, my kiddos played it today and just loved it!  It has 3 different levels of play so you are able to make a whole class set that is able to be differentiated.  The first level has doubling plus 1, the second level had doubling plus 1 and 2 and doubling take 1 and 2, the third level requires a 7-12 dice and has doubling plus 1 and 2 and doubling take 1 and 2.  I have included a spinner for each level of game as well.  Here are a few pics of the kiddos enjoying the game.

They loved having the challenge of using bigger numbers to double.

They used a pencil and paper clip for the spinner.

Bingo and a Giveaway

Hi friends, so glad it is Friday here!  Handed in my program today, so I feel like a weight has lifted........until I get my feedback I guess, eeeek!
In the meantime to keep my mind off that I have made a Bingo game that focusses on numbers before and after rather than the number called, it is very creatively called......Before and After Bingo!  This is a game that I have revamped for my store but I have been playing it for years in my classrooms.  My kiddos love it because they actually have to think about what number it is they are looking for, rather than just plonking down a counter.  I have included a co-ordinating number line for those kiddos that need a little extra help.
